Terms of Use

Last updated: May 2026. By using FresnelPath you agree to these terms.

1. What FresnelPath is

FresnelPath is a web-based planning and analysis tool for RF propagation and LoRaWAN network design. It applies ITU-R propagation models against Copernicus GLO-30 elevation data to produce link budget estimates, path profiles, Fresnel zone clearance analysis, and structured reports.

The service is available at fresnelpath.com. Core analysis features are free to use. No account is required for a single-session analysis.

2. What FresnelPath is not

FresnelPath is a planning tool, not a guarantee. Specifically:

  • It is not a substitute for field verification. Physical-world deployments must be validated by a qualified engineer before infrastructure is committed.
  • It is not a certified compliance tool. Reports generated by FresnelPath are structured for regulatory submission — they use ITU-R standard formats and include the required fields — but regulatory acceptance depends on the accuracy of the inputs you provide and the requirements of your specific authority. You are responsible for verifying that the report meets local requirements before submission.
  • It does not guarantee link availability. Propagation predictions depend on terrain data quality, atmospheric conditions, and local clutter factors. GLO-30 has 30 m spatial resolution; features smaller than that may not appear in the profile.
  • It is not a spectrum license or frequency coordination service.

3. Acceptable use

You may use FresnelPath for any lawful planning, research, or educational purpose consistent with the CC BY-NC 4.0 license terms. You may not:

  • Scrape or bulk-query the analysis API in ways that circumvent rate limits or consume disproportionate compute resources
  • Resell access to the hosted analyzer or represent FresnelPath's analysis output as a proprietary service you created
  • Use the tool to plan unlicensed RF emissions in bands that require coordination
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract proprietary weights or model parameters from the service

4. License of your analysis output

Analyses, reports, and exports you generate using FresnelPath are yours. You own the content you put in (coordinates, site names, equipment parameters) and the output you produce.

The underlying engine — the propagation code, diffraction implementations, and ITU-R model wrappers — is licensed CC BY-NC 4.0. If you embed FresnelPath's output in a commercial deliverable, or use the hosted API in a commercial product, you need a commercial license. Contact us via the form on the press page.

5. Warranty disclaimer

FresnelPath is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We make no warranty that the service will be error-free, uninterrupted, or accurate for any particular purpose. Use of the tool for safety-critical or life-critical applications is not supported.

In no event shall the FresnelPath authors be liable for any claim, damage, or other liability arising from your use of the service or reliance on its output for real-world decisions.

6. Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change when they are. Continued use of the service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
